Unfortunately, a Champion Juicer will not juice wheatgrass. Champion juicers are designed to juice dense vegetables like carrots and beets, and they do an exceptionally good job of this. However, Champion juicers are not designed to juice leafy green vegetables or wheatgrass.

Champion Greens Attachment Saves the Day
Not all hope is lost though, there is an additional “greens” attachment available as an add-on for the Champion 2000 models that will juice wheatgrass.
The Greens attachment is designed for wheatgrass specifically but will juice other leafy greens like kale and chard. Champion does note on their website that if you use the greens attachment to juice leafy greens other than wheatgrass you should expect lower yields as it is not specifically designed for those types of greens.
Is a Champion Juicer Right for You?
So, after reading this you may be thinking, should I buy a Champion Juicer if it does not juice wheatgrass? The answer is, as you may expect, it depends…
If your plan is to juice mostly dense fruits/vegetables and supplement with small amounts of leafy greens, the Champion Juicer 2000 G5-PG710 may be a good choice for you. But remember, you will need the added Greens Attachment.
If you’ve made it this far in the Champion Juicer search my guess is that you like the fact that the Champion Juicer is built in the USA, or the fact that it has a 60+ year track record of being a reliable juicer.
If neither of these are true, nor are deal breakers for you, I would recommend reading our full review of the Champion 2000 Juicer (link below), we compare it to multiple types of juicers including the Omega and Greenstar Elite to name a few.
If Not a Champion, Then What?
Again, my typical answer, it depends. I am sure you are tired of hearing this by now but hang with me for just a minute and I will explain, I promise.
I am going to break this down into 3 categories which will depend on the type of produce you will be juicing most often.
The other options I will be suggesting will be mid-range and up juicers as you are clearly interested in quality if you are researching Champion Juicers.
First Up – Show Me the Green
You love the taste, smell, and the gross face your friend makes when you drink green juice. You are in it for the health, you don’t need sweetness!
If this describes you, you are going to be primarily juicing greens, whether that be wheatgrass, kale or grass from the backyard.
To juice greens efficiently you are going to want a juicer that squeezes at a slow pace but with high pressure.
Kale may seem wimpy but believe it or not it takes a lot of strength to break down its cell walls.
For this juice aficionado I recommend a masticating juicer, but one different from a Champion.
My pick for juicing green juice, day in and day out is an Omega juicer, this is what I use personally and have for 5+ years.
I like the Omega NC900 HDC, the chute is larger than the Omega J8006, which limits that amount of prep work needed. Honestly, either one is a great option for juicing wheatgrass and other greens.

Second – I’m Not Dense, But My Fruits and Veggies Are
Your parents nicknamed you “Bugs” as a kid because you were always eating carrots, you now walk around with orange hands and feet because of all the carrots you juice (this really happens, I’ve seen it).
Or you are the person that loves the glow that drinking carrot juice gives you (this happens, too, it’s a great “side effect”).
If either of these descriptions describe you, you are looking for a juicer that will crank out some volume.
You need something well built to crush and extract all those 20 lb bags of carrots you will be buying.
The Champion Juicers do a really good job at this, they will masticate and extract a good amount of yield and will do it over and over for years to come.
The only downside to the Champion Juicer is the speed in which the masticating blades turn, they turn at 1,725 RPM’s (revolutions per minute). This is a lot, when comparing to other juicers.
So, my juicer turns fast, that means I will have juice faster, right? Not exactly.
While juice may be produced a bit faster, the downside of the speed is that it can lead to heightened oxidation in your juice. Basically, the juice will last less time when stored and may lose some of its natural enzymes during the juicing process.
If you are sold on a Champion Juicer for other reasons, made in America, etc. and will be using your juicer for dense vegetables, buy a Champion, you cannot go wrong.
However, if you are willing to look outside of Champion, I highly suggest a Tribest Greenstar Elite.
The Greenstar Elite spins at a slow 110 RPM’s which helps conserve the juices natural enzymes and extends the storage time up to 72 hours.
The Greenstar Elite has also been shown to produce quite a bit more yield than the Champion and while the Greenstar really shines when it comes to dense vegetables, you can juice greens with it which adds a bit of versatility.

Lastly – I can’t decide, I Like to Mix It Up
When someone asks what you want for dinner you say, I don’t know, everything sounds good.
If this describes you, you need a juicer that can DO IT ALL.
For you, I suggest a juicer that can juice greens and dense vegetables, then when you need a day off from juicing, can make some ICE CREAM. Yep, I said ice cream.
The Hurom H-AA Slow Juicer is a vertical masticating juicer that has been developed with Hurom’s newest Alpha Technology. Hurom also provides a 10-year warranty on the motor.
Yield is great due to Hurom’s patented slow squeeze technology; did I mention it can make ice cream???
This is a true slow juicer, turning at only 43 RPM’s and is nearly silent. Due to the slow juicing process enzymes are retained and juice can be stored for up to 72 hours.
Cleanup is simple, parts are dishwasher safe.
